The Netherlands took an early lead with Roger Bernadina scoring Andrelton Simmons off a ground ball in the first innings, followed quickly in the second with Curt Smith getting helped along for another single by an Australian throwing error.  Jonathan Schoop then ripped a two-run homer to secure the Netherlands a four-run lead over the Aussies.
