Drew Dezen, Tuesday, 5 March 2013

Baseball Australia would like to express our condolences on the passing of long-time friend of the game, Tony Strand (Age 74).

Tony Strand was a right-handed pitcher from Mosman who represented NSW for seven years (1956, 57, 59, 69, 61, 62 and 65).

During the 1962 Claxton Shield he pitched in excess of 30 innings over five games, relieving in two and winning three.

Strand was honoured for his heroic performance in the 1962 Claxton Shield by being named the inaugural winner of the Helms Award that year.

Tony Strand passed peacefully in his hometown of Kyogle; our thoughts are with his family.
