International Friendship Series
Baseball Victoria is pleased to again present the 2013 International Friendship Series. The program is a baseball participation, friendship and cultural experience based in Melbourne for boys and girls in the under 12 age group.
The International Friendship Series is an annual event that allows Victorian Children to host teams predominately from the International Boys Nankyu Baseball Association (IBA Boys).
This year the series will be held from Wednesday 27 March 2013 to Monday 1 April 2013.
Games will be played at Cheltenham, Preston, Waverley, and Werribee Baseball Clubs. This year will see the Japanese teams (3 teams) and the Hills Association (NSW), taking on the 2012 Kangaroo touring teams as well as the metropolitan Little League Teams from Victoria.
"The program provides a wonderful opportunity for Australian and Japanese children to come together and experience new cultures, create new friends, reacquaint with old friends and play baseball," said Baseball Victoria CEO, Brett Hidson.
"While in Melbourne our visitors are treated to local family hospitality and sightseeing attractions within Melbourne, including Puffing Billy, the Queen Victoria Market and the Phillip Island Penguin Parade," said Brett Hidson.
This Program is not designed as a State team development program. It is focused on player improvement, participation, fun and cultural exchange. Baseball Victoria will reciprocate with a return visit to the IBA Boys World Championships in Tokyo for its premier Kangaroos Touring Team. Australia first participated in the IBA Boys World Championships in 1989, when it was staged at the Tokyo Dome, as part of a 24 team tournament.
