Malvern's Brad Whitford on a tear!
James Watson, Friday, 27 October 2006 Braves shortstop Brad Whitford now has eight hits in his last eight at bats after collecting four hits agaisnt Essendon on Thursday night.
Malvern's shortstop Brad Whitford is currently the hottest hitter in division one after collecting eight hits in his last two games.
Squaring off against Sunshine last Sunday and then Essendon on Thursday night, Whitford has collected eight hits in his last eight plate appearances for the Braves.
While Whitford agrees that getting eight consecutive hits is a little unusual, he claims not to have changed anything in the last two weeks that has resulted in his recent hot streak.
"I had a pretty good end to the winter season with Ringwood and I guess I've just been able to carry it over to summer."
"Hopefully I don't jinx myself for this week." He said.
Braves coach Darryl Dicker felt that he knew exactly why Whitford has been on a tear.
"He's a good hitter and these sorts of things happen to good hitters from time to time."
"He's also a very hard worker at training and that's paying off." Dicker said.
Whitford puts his streak on the line against the red hot Blackburn Orioles this Sunday.
