Coaching
A coach or manager is vital to the success of any baseball team. They offer direction, instruction and training of the operations of a team. A great coach can often turn a group of individuals into a team that is motivated for success (whatever they deem that to be!). Coaches can control a team's culture and experience.
Baseball Victoria's Development Officers offer our clubs and volunteers with support and resources to assist them to become great coaches and managers of their team. Our aim is to help develop you so you can develop your players to become successful as individuals and as a team.

New National Coach Accreditation Scheme
Coach Accreditation for baseball is going through some major changes.
The reason for the emphasis on resources is that the ABF intends to make self-education feasible. The ABF no longer specifies that candidates must attend a course, only that they must pass the assessment of competencies required at the relevant level.
Baseball Victoria is in a position to offer and deliver the new Coach Accreditation system. Before contacting Baseball Victoria, coaches are required to firstly complete the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) "Beginning Coaching Principals Course". This is available on-line through the ASC Learning Portal - Click Here.
Once completed, print your certificate and forward to Baseball Victoria's Development Officers.
The new resources for Levels 1 through to 4 can be found on the ABF's website under the Resources tab or at the link below.
Thanks Coach campaign
|
Realising the importance of giving coaches and officials recognition, the Australian Sports Commission intiated the Thanks Coach, Thanks Official campaign to encourage and assist sporting clubs and organisations at all levels to recognise their coaches and officials. You and your Club can be involved in the campaign by building recognition activities for coaches and officials into your Clubs daily business. Rather than giving recognition on a one-off basis, make it ongoing. The Coaching Australia web site carries a set of colourful electornic thank you cards to suit different coaching and officiating situations. The variety of cards available enables you to send a "thanks e-card" whether you win or lose or even if you achieved your targets or simply enjoyed training or the game. Click here to send a "Thanks Coach" e-card. |
