The Werribee Giants have turned their Club pink to raise awareness around Breast Cancer in the latest round of the Victorian Summer Baseball League.
As a part of the day, every Werribee player wore pink tops and hats with the Clubhouse decorated with plenty of pink. Dugouts were also pinks as were the bases and the Pink Lady symbol was placed on the ground at each team’s entrance.
Now in its third year, Club Secretary Jessica Curnow says it’ an event the whole Club gets behind and supports.
“We even had one of our Under 12 boys, Harrison Green-Williams, who shaved his head on the day to raise money. He had been growing it since the start of the year” said Jessica.
“Everyone knows someone who has been affected by breast cancer with 42 women diagnosed in Australia each day. We want to continue to raise awareness and much needed funds to help ensure Australians affected by breast cancer are provided with the very best support, treatment and care.”
More than just an awareness campaign, the Werribee Baseball Club has managed to raise just over $1,400 to date and have an online fundraising page still open for people to donate until Friday.
As we all know, Club events and fundraisers don’t just happen with Jessica Curnow adding that the Club is extremely thankful for all the help they were able to receive to get Werribee’s third success Pink Day off the ground.
“Sarah Smith and myself were the main organisers of the event this year.”
“Along with the help of Lori Collins, Shelby Parrish, Ben Bavdek and so many more people at the Club.”
“We truly appreciate the help everyone could to make it one of the biggest events we hold at the Club.”
Even better for the Giants, the Club’s Firsts, Seconds and Thirds all recorded wins on the day.
