With Day 4 of the 2019 Australian Women’s Championships coming to an end, check out how the Victorian teams fared today!

Youth: VIC 18-2 WA | Box Score 

A strong batting performance by Victoria in the opening two innings ensured their victory over Western Australia to start off Day 4 of the AWC Championships.

Western Australia were first on the board at Diamond 3, with a single from Georgia Butler and a ground out by Tiah Hope putting WA ahead 2-0.

But their lead didn’t last long, with Victoria hitting six runs in the bottom of the first.

Keeley Harrison and Lilian Bell-Tanner both hit three runs each, with the whole batting lineup all getting runs on the board.

Victoria starter Chelsea Stewart laid a solid platform for her team, striking out six with just one walk and one earned run off her two innings pitched.

The Victorian offence really came together at the bottom of the second innings, where the team crossed home plate 12 times.

Kira Jansen topped the RBI count for her team with three, whilst Zoe Allen, Bell-Tanner and Harrison got two each.

New South Wales play Indonesia first up tomorrow on Diamond Three.

 

Youth: IND 1-19 VIC | Box Score 

A monster first innings by Victoria ensured their victory over Indonesia on Diamond 3..

The Victorian team ran in 13 runs in what was a powerful display of batting.

Maddi Weller starred with the bat, hitting four runs including two RBIs off her three at bats.

Kira Jansen finished with four RBIs, including two doubles.

Lilian Bell-Tanner kicked thing off for the Victorians with a single to score Keeley Harrison.

A double by Jansen and three more singles by Bell-Tanner, Maddi Weller and Aspen McGovern quickly bought the score to 9-0.

Ruby Dale then smashed a ground ball triple to score two and bring her team to 12-0, after another error by the Indonesian shortstop.

Victoria were not finished yet, hitting three more runs at the top of the second and then again at the top of the third to finish off the game.

Indonesia play NSW in the first game on Diamond One tomorrow.

 

 

Open: NSW 10-5 VICW | Box Score 

New South Wales kicked things off on Diamond 1 on Day 4 with a 10-5 win over Victoria White.

NSW put the first run on the board courtesy of a Jordan Richardson double, scoring Ticara Geldenhuis.

Victoria White hit the lead briefly at the top of the second when Rebecca Wright doubled on a fly ball to score Jasmine Bentley and Sabrina Kinlough.

But NSW replied quickly at the bottom of the second with a Tiana Lascala single to go one ahead.

From there, NSW offence kicked up a notch, skipping to a 7-2 lead.

They had a minor lapse at the top of the fifth when they let Victoria drive in three runs.

But it wasn’t enough as NSW crossed home plate three more times at the backend of the game to take the win.

NSW will play Victoria Blue in what will be an exciting match first up on Diamond One.

 

Open: SA 2-13 VICB | Box Score 

Victoria Blue are now five wins from as many starts after a solid win over South Australia in the only game on Diamond 2.

They continued their strong offence, driving in twelve runs after three innings to put the result beyond doubt early on.

Abbey Mclellan finished with a game high four RBIs, whilst Shae Lillywhite continued her strong form with three hits from three at bats.

After leading 1-0 after one innings, the Vic Blue team took off, with a couple of singles and errors from South Australia giving them a 6-0 lead.

Their score doubled in the third innings, with Emily Devine finishing off the strong innings with a double to score Brittney Cedelland and Famke Gildemacher.

South Australia got two runs on the board at the bottom of the fourth thanks to a Eryb Shipp single, but it wasn’t enough as the game finished after five innings.
