All three New South Wales charters made winning starts to the 2019 Australian Senior League championship in Lismore on Sunday.

Manly, Hills Blue and Macarthur collected wins, along with Western Australia’s Western Suns.

Manly 2, Adelaide Titans 1 | Box Score

Joshua Beezley’s sixth-inning RBI-single lifted Manly to a hard-fought 2-1 win over Adelaide Titans in the opening game of the 2019 Australian Senior League Championships in Lismore.

Beezley broke a 1-1 tie, driving home Max Milner (single) to help Manly open its Pool B account.

Strong pitching was the highlight of a low scoring battle.

Luke Brown collected three of Manly’s five strikeouts and Titans starter Connor McLeod punched out six hitters.

Zac Newbold put Manly on top in the bottom of the first, driving home Beezley (single) with a none-out double.

Riley Yeatman’s RBI-single pulled Adelaide level in the top of the fourth.

Yeatman finished with two hits for the Titans.

Beezley had two for Manly.

Manly faces Macarthur on Day 2, while Adelaide squares off with Twins.

 

Hills Blue 15, Sunraysia Giants 7 | Box Score

Hills Blue recorded 15 hits on its way to a 15-7 win over Sunraysia Giants at #ASLC2019 on Sunday.

Hills took an early lead on Diamond 1 before the Giants erased the deficit and went ahead 4-3.

But a six-run fourth put Hills Blue in control before a five-run seventh sealed an impressive first-up win.

Alessandro Ranieri drove in five runs on three hits.

Riley Watson, Brent Iredale, Ryan Franks and Lochlan Oliver also enjoyed multi-hit games for Hills.

Raiden Wakefield collected three hits for Sunraysia.

 

Western Suns 8, Brisbane Metro 4 | Box Score

Western Suns traded early runs with Brisbane Metro before pulling away to record and 8-4 win on Diamond 1.

Metro scored two runs the top of the first ahead of the Suns piling on three in the bottom of the inning.

Brisbane then scored two more to regain the lead before Western Suns added another three runs.

The Suns then padded their advantage, scoring a run in the third and fourth.

Maddux Stivey drove home a game-high three runs on a single and triple.

He also struck out five after starting on the mound for Western.

Ashton Hamilton and Bailey-Jay Cooke joined Stivey with multi-hit games for the Suns.

Joshua Anthony, Jackson Grounds and John Lemm collected two hits each for Metro.

 

Macarthur 14, Twins 5 | Box Score

Macarthur’s red-hot offence proved too much for Twins on Diamond 2.

Jacob Veres homered and Macarthur collected 15 hits in a 14-5 Pool B victory on Day 1 of #ASLC2019.

Twins scored two early runs but Macarthur added a run in the first and second to erase the deficit before powering on.

Veres’ two-run homer in the third put the NSW charter up 4-2.

A five-run fourth pushed their lead to 9-4.

Veres finished with three RBI and Lachlan Brook drove in four runs.

McLeod Sell drove in a pair of runs at the top of the Twins’ batting order.
