Hills Red claimed bronze in early action on day five of the 2019 Australian Little League Championship in Lismore.

An eight-run second inning lifted Hills over Eastern Phantoms on diamond one.

Gold Coast Cougars, Far North Coast, Twins, Central Firebirds, Adelaide Marlins and Adelaide Rays also claimed wins in placing games on the final day of action.

Cronulla and Ryde Red are battling for gold in the championship game to wrap up all the action.

Bronze medal game: Hills Red 10, Eastern Phantoms 5 | Box Score

Phoenix McFarland’s strong start and an eight-run second guided Hills Red to bronze at #ALLC2019.

McFarland recorded nine strikeouts and worked with an early lead as Hills prevailed 10-5 in the third-place playoff against Eastern Phantoms.

The Phantoms struck first, taking a 1-0 lead on Austin Moyle’s first-inning double.

Hills drew level in the bottom of the first ahead of a big second inning.

Matthew Courtney’s flyball to right field scored three runs and Rory Cain’s hard-hit single up the middle put Hills Red up by four runs.

Jake Buck’s two-run single added to Hills’ lead as they piled on eight runs.

Eastern pulled runs back in the third and sixth.

Ben Crook delivered a two-run single in the third and Moyle and Riley Oliphant drove in late runs.

Kalin Murray closed the door to seal bronze for Hills.

 

5th-place playoff: Gold Coast Cougars 15, Manly 11 | Box Score

Gold Coast Cougars rode a five-run fourth to victory in the #ALLC2019 fifth-place playoff.

The Cougars broke a 10-all tie with a big fourth inning, going on to top Manly 15-11 on diamond two.

Logan Blackman drove in three runs and Riku Mochizuki and Riley Hobbs each recorded two runs batted in.

Gold Coast raced to a 5-0 lead in the first before William Braund’s two-run homer capped off a five-run second to pull Manly level.

James Greer’s three-run homer in the third put Manly up 10-9.

But the Cougars responded with a five-run fourth to clinch a fifth-place finish.

 

7th-place playoff: Far North Coast 9, Northern Metros 3 | Box Score

Michael Maher struck out 15 batters as Far North Coast clinched seventh spot at #ALLC2019.

Maher starred on the mound as FNC topped Northern Metros 9-3.

Jake Connolly and Maher homered to power the offence in an impressive win.

Rhys Hards and Michael Stephenson homered for the Metros but they could not overcome an early eight-run deficit.

 

9th-place playoff: Twins 15, Southern Mariners 5 | Box Score

Twins powered past Victorian rivals Southern Mariners to finish #ALLC2019 with a four-game winning streak and ninth-place finish.

After falling behind 3-0 early, Twins rattled off the next 10 runs to take a commanding lead before going on to win 15-10.

Lachlan Schumann had three runs batted in and Nathan Rumbelow, William Hardy and Hudson Pallay each drove in two runs.

 

11th-place playoff: Central Firebirds 10, Eastern Athletics 7 | Box Score

Central Firebirds scored early and late to triumph 10-7 over Eastern Athletics in the #ALLC2019 11th-place playoff.

The Firebirds jumped to a 7-3 after one but needed three runs in the bottom of the fourth to prevail after Eastern pulled level.

Joel Vlasic had a team-high two runs batted in for Central.

Aimon Dowling drove home three runs for Eastern.

 

13th-place playoff: Adelaide Marlins 12, Canberra 2 | Box Score

Aiden Lucas homered twice as Adelaide Marlins downed Canberra 12-2 to finish 13th at #ALLC2019.

Lucas finished with four runs batted in and Alistair Tanner recorded eight strikeouts for the Marlins.

Canberra’s Harry Austin finished with seven strikeouts.

 

15th-place playoff: Adelaide Rays 6, Brisbane North 3 | Box Score

Adelaide Rays topped Brisbane North 6-3 in the 15th-place playoff to record their first win of #ALLC2019.

Bailen Thomas struck out six and Bhodi Kane and Tait Chapman powered the Rays’ offence to victory.

North starter Hayden Dingli recorded eight strikeouts.
