Baseball Victoria would like to congratulate all the boys selected for the 2018 Australian Schoolboys International Tour which travels to the United States in September to compete in a college-style tour of Oregon, Washington State, California and Arizona. The tour is a privately-run enterprise that provides great avenues for young men to travel, play and learn what a potential U.S college career is all about.

The boys were selected based on their performances in the Australian Schoolboys Baseball Tournament held in Adelaide last week and includes five local Victorians; Liam Evans, Cody Rodwell, Will Tucker, Reece Longstaff and Ben Firenze. Essendon’s own Peter Giles is also heading up the coaching team.

The trip includes a grueling 20 game schedule played across 25 days and has been designed to mimic the life of a collegiate athlete. However, the team will also get to let their hair down a little with plans to take in two MLB games, a college football game and a trip to Universal Studios.

Tour Manager, Neil Barrowcliff, says that in addition to providing players the opportunity to play in front of college scouts, it is also a great way for the boys to develop their independence and hone their interpersonal skills.

Next year’s Australian Schoolboys Baseball Tournament will be held in Geelong, Victoria.

Again, congratulations boys and good luck!
